Educating Women
P.E.O. was founded on January 21, 1869, by seven students at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. More than 109,000 women have benefited from our organization's educational grants, loans, awards, special projects, and the stewardship of Cottey College.

Kansas is proud of its P.E.O. heritage, which began in 1888. Kansas has grown to become the sixth largest state in P.E.O. with more an 10,400 members and 250 chapters. We support the six International philanthropic projects and two Kansas projects.

About Chapter GY, Abilene, KS
Chapter GY, Abilene, was organized on April 9, 1964. In addition to supporting the international P.E.O. projects, P.E.O. Chapter GY, Abilene, KS, awards two local scholarships - one to an Abilene High School graduate, and one to a Chapman High School graduate. It is the mission of Chapter GY to continue this tradition of giving through the proceeds of "Race For The Stars."
